Mission Trip part 1

So, I just got home from my mission trip to Beaufort, South Carolina. I have learned so much and this past week has been absolutely amazing. I have so much to say and that I want to talk about I am going to break it up into 2 or 3 parts.

Well, It was a group of 5 of us leaving and before I even left I had been blessed with money to help cover the expenses and food, which was great. We got on the rode after the father’s day picnic and it was a fun drive about 6 hours. We got their around 9 o’clock and it was scary we walked into a room full of youth and they just stared at us, I was already beginning to get worried about the week ahead of us. I sat down in a corner and listened to who was speaking. Once I got up to my room, Tim and Michelle’s(the youth leaders) daughter Hayley  welcomed me right away she had even cleared a spot next to her air mattress for me to sleep. I have met her briefly before on her trips to FL. Their were about 9 girls in my room and I was the oldest, they were all in middle school or 9th grade.

Their were three churches there Calvary Chapel(ours), St.Helena’s(theirs), and then Kenwood Baptist( a super cool church from Cincinnati)

They split us up into 3 groups. The first group was running a Backyard bible/VBS thing for government owned housing in a really rough part of town, this is the group I was in.The second group was volunteering at a free local health clinic doing hard labor outside, planting a garden/yard work and painting. The third group was volunteering at a retirement  home painting.

This is the first part.. its pretty boring and dull but I have to tell you guys the backround info to get to the good stuff

more to come

Operation Beaufort

Well, I leave in 2 days to head up to Beaufort South Carolina to go on a mission trip. And I’m excited, Not only because this will only be the 2nd time I have left the state but also because this is my first mission trip!

Our youth group is partnering up with Pastor Doug’s sister in laws church to participate in their trip.Their isn’t much detail to what we are going to be doing besides that we will be reaching out in the community and helping, volunteering at a free medical clinic and a local VBS. We are staying at the church and showering at the local YMCA( should be fun)and also our youth group is supposed to be leading worship.

There is only about 6 of us going and I’m the only girl.Well, their will be girl’s there but i’m the only one going from our church! This past Sunday the church sent out a notice providing the church body to get involved with the trip and one of the options was to “sponsor” a youth, if anyone wanted to donate money to help the youth achieve the 75 dollar goal needed to go. As soon as that offer was put out someone approached me after church willing to pay my whole way! God is good! That took care of my money issue.

Please pray for our youth group that we have safe travels, that we make a difference and reach out to this community. That we all work hard and really help someone during this week. I want this trip to become something, a way to let people know about Jesus through service and willingness. I will blog all about how it went when we get back!
